Eyes of Love

What kind of unselfish love is this
That capture from behind the lens
Of her beloved digital camera
Simple things in life we
Take for granted!

She quickly snaps the deer in flight
Across the wide expanse of Prairie land;
And records for lasting memory
The spread of food at a birthday party;
Then there are old church buildings with stories to tell
Which she does with captions to stir the conscience to think
Of what is life beyond this present one!

Add to this her unconditional love for animals which
Go way beyond the domesticated cat and dog!
This precious, selfless child of God
With no thought of how and why,
Cares for the neglected, starving
Bird, rabbit, and squirrel, too!
Oh, how blessed is she
Who with a heart
Full of love and compassion
Shows such tenderness to
God’s little creatures
And how these little creatures
Love her back with eyes of thankfulness!

There is more, much more to our present existence
If we but die to self and let nature and simplicity
Teach us the rudiments of life
She lovingly captures from
Behind the Lens
Through eyes
Of love!

She Rescued Me

Written on the wall
Decision made
No longer required
Last Friday my day of doom!

My hopes destroyed
My future ... NONE
I have no say

Then she came, Praise the Lord
My rescue secure
Forever grateful I am
Unconditional love overflowing
She took me home
My life redeemed
My future bright
On guard I'll be
Loyal by her side
Day and night to protect!

Who says we dogs don't have
Guardian Angels!


No-Way Hosey

Inside, inside
Warm and cozy
I'm here to stay!
Outside
Much too cold for
Doggie legs
No snow coat
No snow boots
No snow scarf
Not even goggles
Wind chill factor
Way below zero
Turns eyeballs into icicles
And even brass monkeys freeze!
No way, Na-ah...that ain't for me!
Dumbski I might be in name
But not in nature...that's for sure!

My Precious Dumbski

How deep my memories of you, my pet
From the day I first brought you home
To the day the Eagle came
And heaven-bound you went!

An alarm clock I didn’t need
‘Cause you’d wake me up each morn without fail
How clever you were at negotiating to get out
Though sometimes I’d get torked
Too tired to be disturbed!

No siree, not with you chomping at the bit
How funny you were, made me laugh
‘Cause you were just bent on getting out
Drove me nuts, in a funny sort of way
But you always got your way!

There are things in life
I would probably like to do over
Some things for sure I would change
But taking you in again, sweet Percy
Would be something I’d do
Without hesitation!

Not known for your brains
But blessed with the cutest doggie face
Your goofyness made me laugh;
Yes, it was God’s grace that
Brought us together
On June 16, 1995
Otherwise, my little Dumbski,
You would have been put down
By the reluctant vet!

I’ll forever carry fond memories of you
My precious, funny Mercy Percy
Right here … in my heart!

When the Eagle Came

Dear Mama, do not worry
And do not shed more tears for me
For there comes a time when we must all depart
To that blessed place high above the clouds!

No human knows
When their time has come
Or what mode their departure will be;
And that’s no different for us pets, you know;
For the Master Designer, the Great Creator
Calls us home when our time is up!

We know our stay on earth is but temporary
And these shells we occupy are not transportable;
All we know that His will must be done
The how is not for us to decide!

Some have gone before
With diseases such as cancer
Others have made their departure through
An unfortunate car chase, a bullet wound
Or a nasty bit from a poisonous snake;
But I, I was lifted high above the clouds
By an Eagle with mighty wings;
Just think of me as being
Translated like Enoch!

I was not that body, it was borrowed, didn’t you know;
The real me, for a time, was within the shell
When the Eagle came to set me free
Free from all the aches and pains
And to reunite me with my Master and Creator
Where love flows like a waterfall!

Thanks for all you’ve done for me
Your love and kindness, unmatchable,
A blessing from an Angel of Mercy
Who carefully named me
Mercy Percy
Aka Dumbski!

who truly loves and cares for God's little creatures.
She treats each one like a loving family member;
and surprisingly, the pets respond with love.
