Daily Soulfood For You
" I can do all things through Christ
which strengtheneth me."
(Philippians 4:13 KJV)

Life isn't really about us; it's about JESUS!
My love for our Heavenly Father is something I have known from childhood because of the
Christian upbringing I have had. Proverbs 3:5,6 is one of many verses I cling to: "Trust in
the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways
acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths." Throughout my life, the Lord has proved
this promise to be true. It is my desire that those who should find themselves perusing the
humble pages of dailysoulfoodforyou, and my sister sites: www.soakinhiswords.webs.com,
and www.intercessoryprayers.webs.com will find encouragement, comfort, and an infilling of
the Holy Spirit.

If perchance you should read any of my novels, you will find them to be unique, for I
attempt to show through the main protagonist a deep faith and love for our Triune God, the
source of all strength and hope.

My most recent book,
Inside the Shell is a collection of Inspirational Prose dedicated to
anyone who is hurting or discouraged, and who would like to experience God's abundant
love, grace, peace, and compassion.

In a world where there is so much pain, I just want to be able to encourage, uplift, and help
others realize that their faith and trust in Jesus, the Anointed One, will make a huge
difference in their lives. Through the promptings of the Holy Spirit, they will even discover
their hidden talents, gifts, and purpose for being here.  In this world, we're too performance
and achievement driven. That's a lot of pressure! We need to be able to laugh at ourselves
when we make mistakes.

We ought to look only for the good in others; see the beauty within, while ignoring the
shell they occupy. (I think of John Merrick - aka the Elephant Man ! Although severely
deformed in body, he had a remarkably kind and gentle spirit.) He found rest in the Lord!
So can we!

Indeed, we ought to see the glass as half full; consider mistakes and trials as God's way of
maturing us; view each day as a new beginning, a chance God gives us to let go of the past
and have a fresh start. There is always a season of preparation before God sends a case our
way. Remember challenges and trials are learning times!

I thank God daily for what He has done for me, in the person of Jesus and His unselfish
sacrifice on the Cross. I thank Him also for the creative writer who resides within me. I can
only hope that readers of my stories see beyond the storyline to the depth of faith in our
Triune God, and strength exhibited by the protagonist.

Finally, I believe God touches our lives in a variety of ways; and the experiences we have
had are meant to be shared. If I am able to bring hope, encouragement, and inspiration to
just one person, then I have fulfilled my purpose.

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the
uttermost part of the earth." Acts 1:8

Will You Pray For My Wife?

Each Wednesday afternoon
In the healing room we wait
Knowing that God will send those
In need of His healing touch
Or a faith-filled prayer!

Yesterday He sent an elderly couple,
Evelyn and her husband Jim.
She has a severe case of dementia
How Jim loves this strong-willed woman
Whose attention span is less than ten minutes;
At which time she jumps up and heads for the door

Jim gently restrains her, and lovingly strokes her hand
While returning her to the chair she had just vacated.
He tells her in a soothing voice how lovely she is
He reminds her of the many times
She played the piano at Retirement Homes
He reminds her of the delicious meals
She once prepared with little ease
But Evelyn only stares, her lips tightly sealed!

“Will you say a prayer for my wife?” Jim asks in the gentlest of voices.
“My Evelyn…oh, how lovely she was once upon a time.
I know that Jesus will heal her,
If we but ask in faith.”

And so with oil we proceed to anoint
Evelyn’s forehead and both her palms
We each present with aching hearts
Our prayers to the Father, in Jesus’ name
And at conclusion we hear
Evelyn say, “Amen!”

Dementia is such an awful disease
The pain it causes others is heartbreaking
But we must not be discouraged
For in God we must put our trust
His will be done
We know not how
Or if or when
We can only do our part and ask
In prayer, believing!

“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing
him with oil in the name of the Lord…”  (James 5:14)
